The rope team
The ROPE team is made up of over 50 staff, from support workers through to Administration staff and the Management team.
We pride ourselves on the professionalism and dedication of our team, with some team members having been at ROPE for 10+ years. They are participant focussed, highly skilled and passionate, always providing the highest level of engagement and support.
The ROPE team
Irena has been on the Executive Committee of ROPE for seven years. As the Director of MW Training & Teach2Learn, Irena has been an RTO (Registered Training Organization) specializing in Adult English Language, Literacy & Numeracy for over 20 years. As well as this, Irena is a QA consultant & designer of the unique LLN & pre-vocational resources under Teach2Learn that currently provides a suite of 450 products nationwide (& is currently producing great results with the ROPE participants). Irena has been a wonderful asset to the ROPE Management Committee, imparting her experience & knowledge at every meeting.
Tim is a solicitor at Hopgood Ganim Lawyers in Brisbane. In his role he advises on all types of litigation & dispute resolution matters related to commercial contracts, directors’ duties disputes, restructuring, insolvency & mining resources and native title disputes. Tim has served on the management committees of several not-for-profit organizations operating in the disability sector. Through these roles he gained experience in the internal governance & management of those organizations as well as the sale or merger of their business. Tim holds qualifications in Law (Honors) & Business (Management) from the Queensland University of Technology.
Recently retired, David worked in Northern Territory hospital administration for many years followed by some time as a tour operator in the Top End. In more recent years he has worked with local government throughout the NT, including appointment as CEO of the Barkly Regional Council based in Central Australia. David holds qualifications in health management from University of NSW.
Lesley comes from a strong background in Health, having spent 16 years as Specialist Practice Manager with Southern X-Ray, then moving to the Royal Women’s Hospital, before retiring in 2016. During this time Lesley completed & achieved a Certificate IV in Frontline Management. She joined the ROPE Board in 2013 where she believed her extensive experience in administration management would be of benefit. In 2014 Lesley accepted the position of Secretary, in 2015 her first stint as Vice-President, before becoming become secretary once again in 2017.
Alice describes herself as being the mum of a miracle. Alice came to the Management Committee after her child started with ROPE three years ago. Alice has vast experience with committees, clubs & associations, having held a variety of positions for many organisations in the Moreton Bay Region. Some of these positions include President of Deception Bay High School; founding committee member of ausDoCC and past Young Peoples Leader, Salvation Army Redcliffe. Alice is currently studying her Certificate IV in Accounting.
James is a Law Graduate at Hopgood Ganim with experience assisting both not-for-profit & commercial organisations. James has experience dealing with governance & compliance issues for not-for-profit organisations, along with a general background in private enterprise, litigation & dispute resolution. James has a deep interest in advocacy within the disability & healthcare sectors & is a passionate promoter of ROPE’s mission. James was honoured to receive a White House invitation to attend Barack Obama’s address to young leaders in Brisbane in recognition of his advocacy & leadership roles & continues to look for opportunities to contribute to the community wherever possible.
All of Camilla’s working life has been in vocations relating to pastoral care & early childhood education. Camilla has worked as a Group Leader in childcare centres, and as a member of staff in boarding schools both in Australia & in the UK. Camilla holds a Certificate 3 in Early Childhood Services and has started her Diploma qualification. Camilla held the position of Head of one of the girls boarding houses at St Peters Lutheran College, and prior to this was Deputy Head of House. Camilla is married with two children, one of whom has a disability.
Chair of Marketing / Committee Member
As the owner of BMR – Better Marketing Results, Tom is passionate about solving the ‘Marketing’ problem in businesses, and believes trust is the most important part of that. Tom is known for simplifying the marketing jargon and helping his clients know what function Marketing can really perform for their business. Tom brings this wealth of Marketing knowledge to the table as a valued board member.
Tom also gains great satisfaction from public speaking, and can be found every Monday and Wednesday at a regular networking event with 100+ people.
